AVA, N.Y. -- The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-0 tornado touchdown occurred Thursday evening in Ava.
The peak wind gusts topped out at 80 mph.

The tornado was on the ground for about nine minutes with a path length of three miles.
The survey began off Vary Road, where trees fell in a convergent pattern, with those on the south side falling north—and those on the north side falling south.
A property owner reported swirling leaves and snapping trees during the storm.
In the Town of Ava, 80-mph winds were estimated.
A chicken coop was displaced, and a large tree fell on a pig pen.

Trees fell in similar patterns as the first location, but the house remained undamaged.
Property owners witnessed fast-moving clouds and heard trees falling as winds intensified.
The survey concluded at a farmhouse east of Ava, where a large, partly rotten tree fell on the house, causing minor damage.
This location marked the end of the tornado's path, with no further significant damage observed.
