ONEIDA COUNTY- No citations have been issued in the wake of a single-car motor vehicle accident that occurred over the weekend in Oneida County, police say.
It was shortly before 5:00 a.m. Saturday when emergency services were called out to State Route 26 in the town of Ava for a vehicle that had rolled over.
Initial reports from 9-1-1 dispatch advised there was driver entrapment.
According to investigation via the Sheriff’s Office, Dorothy Sherboneau, 36, of Canastota, NY was operating a 2012 Ford Sedan southbound and due to unknown circumstances, her vehicle left the roadway off the right shoulder, entered the ditch, and struck a dirt embankment.
Sherboneau's Sedan then overturned, colliding with a utility pole and shearing it off.
The vehicle eventually came to rest on its rooftop along the western shoulder, approximately 250 feet from where it had left the roadway.
Sherboneau managed to escaped the vehicle before the arrival of first responders; although the vehicle sustained extensive damages, deputies said.
Sherboneau was transported to Wynn Hospital by West Leyden Ambulance for several complaints of pain in her head, neck, and shoulder area.
As of this report, police say the accident is still under investigation and no citations have been issued.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by the New York State Police, West Leyden Fire Department, West Leyden Ambulance Company, Municipal Commission of Boonville, and Clayton's Auto.
