Boonville- Carol M. Johnson, 90, passed away at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville on September 30, 2024.

She was born on April 12, 1934 in Boonville, N.Y. a daughter of John E. and Lucy M. Akins Zeigler.

Carol grew up in Boonville and graduated from Boonville High School in the Class of 1952.  She then furthered her education at Utica School of Commerce graduating in 1953.  She then began her long career in banking serving as a teller in the local banks in Boonville for 35 years. Carol was married to Donald Gydesen on January 24, 1959. That ended in divorce. She married Wilson (Bill) Marks and he died in October 1987.  She retired from banking in 2004.  Carol also was employed at Woodgate Pines Golf Club for 18 years. Carol was united in marriage with Floyd (Butch) Johnson on November 8, 2004 in Nashville, TN.

She was an avid golfer and was a member of Woodgate Pines Golf Course as well as the Wednesday Night Ladies Golf League.  She also enjoyed bowling and was a member of Saturday night Co-Ed League and a former member of Hi-Lo Bowling League.   Carol enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, watching movies, traveling, spending time in Florida, and was an Elvis fan.    She was a member of Boonville Charles J. Love Post American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, Floyd C. (Butch) Johnson; children, Michael (Debra) Gydesen, Lorrie (Daniel) Czepiel and she was predeceased by a son Jeffrey Gydesen, April 1, 2024.   Also surviving are her seven grandchildren; eleven great granchildren and sisters in-law, Hattie Zeigler, Estella Zeigler, and Eva Mae Swiernik. 

She was predeceased by brothers, Donald J. Zeigler, Richard W. Zeigler, Robert K. Zeigler, and Karl J. Zeigler.

Carols family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care given to their mom.

A funeral service will be on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post St., Boonville. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4- 7p.m.  Burial in Boonville Cemetery.
