Clifford W. Hill
REMSEN-Clifford W. Hill, 81, of Commons Road, passed away on October 5, 2025 at Wynn Hospital after a brief illness.
Clifford, a son of the late Wilson and Lorretta Kellogg Hill, was born on May 3, 1944 at the family home in the Town of Leyden. He first attended school in Port Leyden and later graduated from Remsen Central School in 1962. Clifford was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Patricia Horn, on July 22, 1967 and together they happily shared 58 years of marriage and raised their three children at their home on Commons Road.
Clifford worked for Niagara Mohawk and National Grid as a hot stick lineman and line foreman for over 30 years. After retiring, he worked alongside his son, Jonathan, for Hill’s Tree Service. Clifford served the Town of Remsen for 20 years, first as Councilman and then as Town Supervisor. He was an active member of the community, helping out wherever he could, especially at the Remsen Art Center.
Clifford enjoyed attending local cruise ins with his classic cars and truck, hunting, and woodworking. Through the years, he had many horses of all sizes and found great pleasure in not only driving his horses around town but, also using them for work.
Clifford was very proud of his family and loved when his family was all together. Surviving besides his wife, Patricia, are a daughter, Kelly (Kenn) Runninger and two sons, Brian (Lisa) Hill and Jonathan (Suzanne) Hill; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three siblings, Marge (Peter) Miller, Dorrance (Mary) Hill , and David (Jennifer) Hill; and one sister-in-law, Sandra Hill. He was predeceased by a brother, Clarence Hill and a sister, Lois Miller.
The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday October 9, 2025 at Ackley-Mills Funeral Home, 9597 Main Street, Remsen. Friends are invited to calling hours from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
