Constance (Connie) McConnell
Constance (Connie) McConnell passed away at age 93 on September 24, 2025 at the Siegenthaler Center, New Hartford, N.Y.
Born in Lewis County, New York, the only daughter of John and Gladys Bourgeois Croniser, Constance shared her youth with 4 brothers, Douglas, Robert, Francis, and Raymond. After graduation from Port Leyden Central School, she earned an RN degree from St. Luke’s Memorial School of Nursing and later a BS degree from Utica College of Syracuse University. Her subsequent long career in nursing began with positions as an RN at Syracuse Memorial and Rome City Hospitals, followed by over 20 years of service as a school nurse in the Rome City School District. For the last 5 of these she held the position of Nurse Coordinator.
Connie celebrated 71 happy years of marriage with her high school sweetheart, the late John H. McConnell, in February of 2025. Connie and John spent the majority of their married years in the house they customized for themselves overlooking Delta Lake. They greatly enjoyed traveling together, including Caribbean cruises, several visits to Europe, Alaska, Hawai’i, and nearly every state on the U.S. mainland. Connie liked golfing, skiing, square dancing, singing, and crafts, such as painting, doll-making and constructing her own greeting cards. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Constance was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brothers. She is survived by: her two children, Terry R. McConnell (Patricia Ford) and Betsy L. (Stephen) Amodio; three grandchildren, Tabitha (Michael) Pattison, Tiffany (Patrick) Mahoney, and Erin A. McConnell; a step granddaughter, Lucciana (Jesse) Born; two great grandchildren, Brooke and Shawn Mahoney; and three step great grandchildren, Lydia, Levi, and Jillian Born. Her survivors further include three sisters-in-law, Ann McConnell, Sally Croniser, and Ramona Croniser, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service honoring both Connie and John will held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11 A.M. at Evergreen Cemetery in Stokes.
