Dale G. Jones
Holland Patent- Dale G. Jones, 79, a lifelong resident of Powell Road, husband of Marcia, passed away at Wynn Hospital, Utica, on Thursday, October 3, 2024, after being stricken at his residence.
Dale was born in Utica, on November 4, 1944, son of George E. and Margaret Greenwood Jones. Dale graduated from Holland Patent Central School, with the Class of 1962.
Following his education, Dale served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Alaska, during the Vietnam War era and was honorably discharged in 1967.
He was first employed by Oneida County Rural Telephone Company, Holland Patent, followed by many years of employment on major road construction projects for International Union of Operating Engineers, Syracuse, NY. Later in life, Dale was employed as a trackman for the Mohawk Adirondack & Northern Railroad, out of Utica, NY.
On July 5, 1974, Dale was united in marriage with Marcia Kraft, at the Holland Patent Presbyterian Church. This year marked 50 years of a happy union together.
He was a longtime and current active member of Holland Patent Hose Company and a member of Roberts Post American Legion of Holland Patent.
Dale was very patriotic and very proud of his Welsh heritage.
Dale will be fondly remembered as a person who greatly enjoyed visiting with other people and considered many to be friends over a wide area. He enjoyed year-round feeding wild Mallard ducks on the backyard pond and was happiest while being outdoors and mowing his lawn. He spent much time maintaining his many “man toys.” At the end of most days, Dale enjoyed a beer while sitting by the fire pit.
In addition to his wife, Marcia, Dale is survived by two sons and a daughter in law, Tyler Jones and significant other, Jaime Straub, his son, Aiden, Lincoln University, PA, Carson Jones and Tessa Hopsicker, and their daughter, Tamsin, Hinckley, NY and his extended family that he was close with.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life, on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 12 Noon until 3:00 P.M. at the Leon R. Roberts Post American Legion, Depot Street, Holland Patent. Interment will be private at the convenience of his family in Holland Patent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holland Patent Hose Company, 9531 Center Street, Holland Patent, NY 13354 or consider donating blood, platelets or apheresis to a local chapter of the American Red Cross.
