David Vincent Allen, 74, of Prescott Arizona, passed away on September 17, 2024.  David was born in Utica, NY, on November 9, 1949, to George E. Allen and Mary L. (Saladin) Allen.

David was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joan (Scouten, who grew up in Port Leyden), and sister in law, Deborah Allen.  He is survived by his sister, Patricia Goynes of Hope Arkansas, his brother, Robert (Bobby), Camden, NY; and David’s two children, Jeffery and Christine; nephews, Timothy Goynes and Michael Allen; nieces, Kimberly Westfall and Melissa Graves.

He graduated from Roosevelt High School, Utica with the Class of 1966 and then continued his education at Syracuse University, where he graduated in 1970, earning a Bachelor Degree in Forestry.   David was employed as a safety inspector for the lumber industry.  He also served for 20 years in the National Guard.  

David was a member of the Catholic faith.  He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a person who possessed a sharp sense of wit and humor. 

After living in Yorba Linda, CA, David moved to Prescott AZ, where he lived with his new love, Dawn Carrigan, until his death. 

A graveside service will be Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11:00 A.M., at Port Leyden Cemetery, Port Leyden, NY, where Rev. Daniel Chapin, pastor of St. Martin’s Catholic church, Port Leyden, will preside.  David’s arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville, NY.
