Turin- EvaMae Swiernik, passed September 2, 2025; she was our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She passed away due to complications of dementia.  EvaMae is a daughter of Peter and Sarah Fey Gydesen of Constableville, NY, near Highmarket on the Gydesen Family Homestead Farm, which was located on the Highmarket Road.

EvaMae graduated in 1957, from Constableville Central School.  After graduating, she worked at Sunset Nursing and Maternity Hospital, Constableville, Crofoot Implements of Constableville, before employment at National Exchange Bank of Boonville. 

On October 25, 1958, EvaMae married her beloved husband, Edward Swiernik. After their marriage, the couple Ed and EvaMae began farming on the Potter Farm in Collinsville.  In 1964, they purchased the former Gene and Agnita Capron Farm, which became Ed and EvaMae’s forever farm, on Rt. 26, in Turin, where they have since lived.

EvaMae enjoyed a very full life, with running the farm, driving truck for their cattle trucking business and helping with the operation of their farm related business, Turin Livestock, Cattle Shipping and Dairy Supply.  After retiring from dairy farming, the couple raised beefalo and founded Ridgeview Stables, offering trail riding, pony rides and therapeutic riding for the ARC. After retiring completely from farming, EvaMae went to work at South Lewis Central School District for 20 years and she also enjoyed employment at the Alpine restaurant making pizzas. 

         

EvaMae is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Edward Swiernik, daughter, Bonny Lou (Tim) Mahar, son, Tom Swiernik and son, Tim (Bobbie Jo) Swiernik, grandson, Justin (Amber) Mahar, Granddaughter, Kaitlyn (Robb) Matthews and beautiful Great Granddaughter, Briana Matthews, all of Turin.  

Her Funeral will begin with a Prayer Service on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, followed by a service at St. Mary’s Church, Constableville, where Rev. Deacon James Chaufty, from the South Lewis Parishes of Roman Catholic Churches, will preside.  Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Constableville.  Calling hours are Friday, 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Turin Volunteer Fire Department, 4239 State Rt. 26, Turin, NY 13473, or to Lewis County Hospice, 7785 North State Rt. Lowville, NY 13367. 

Following the services and interment, all are invited to attend a luncheon and further celebration of EvaMae’s life, at the Turin Fire Department, where contributions of food may be delivered on Saturday, beginning at 9:30 A.M.
