Talcottville- Genevieve L. “Jennie”  Failing, 90, longtime resident of Domser Road, passed away  on Monday, January 5, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family under the care of Lewis County Hospice.

She was born in Lyons Falls on December 7, 1935, a daughter of the late Leo E. and Frances Violando McIntyre. Jennie grew up in the Lyons Falls, Lyonsdale, and Gould Town areas and attended Port Leyden High School.  On December 11, 1952, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard L. Failing at the Talcottville Methodist Church. The couple spent over 53 years together until Mr. Failing’s passing on April 19, 2006.  Jennie raised her children and was a caregiver for local families throughout the years.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling with the Red Hatters, flowers, flower gardening, and above all, spending time with her family.

Jennie was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Constableville and the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by two children, Richard E. (Mary Kraeger) Failing and Christina M. (Randy) Holland; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Etta May “Ginger” (Peter) Poppleton and Dale (Theresa) McIntyre; two sisters-in-law, Rose Ann “Rosie” McIntyre and Veronica McIntyre; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard L. Failing; one son, Andrew Failing; one granddaughter, Desirae L. Failing; and two brothers, Leo “Tony” and Charles “Chuckie” McIntyre.

In keeping with Jennie’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mills Funeral Home, Boonville. Contributions in her name may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367.
