The national average price for a gallon of gas here in the U.S. was $3.53 as of Tuesday morning, according to the AAA.

A year ago now, national pump prices were averaging $3.43. For New York State, drivers are paying an average of $3.43 per-gallon. That is ten-cents below the latest national average price.

“Gas prices are a lot like seasonal temperatures. They start to rise with the arrival of spring, said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson.

“And the national average for gas is now higher than a year ago, which we have not seen since late December.”
