LEE- An accident involving a pick-up truck and an SUV led to personal injuries and a traffic summons Thursday afternoon in Oneida County, authorities say.

At around 4:00 p.m., 9-1-1 dispatchers began fielding calls regarding an accident at the intersection of Stokes-Lee Center and Thomas Roads, town of Lee.

Investigation revealed a 2018 Chevy SUV and a 1996 Dodge pick-up truck were the two vehicles involved.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Denielle L. Walker, 39, of Westernville, NY was heading east on Stokes-Lee Center Road in the Dodge truck. As she approached the Thomas Road intersection, police say the SUV, reportedly driven by June M. Aikens, 92, of Rome, NY attempted crossing northbound.

A collision occurred, as Walker struck the rear driver’s-side of Aiken’s SUV. Walker’s Dodge truck continued to cross-over and smash into the guiderail, causing it to spin-out and hit a tree.

An unidentified passenger in Walker’s vehicle complained of no injuries. Aikens also reported no physical injuries suffered from the accident.

Meanwhile, Walker described to medical officials some symptoms of chest pain and pain on her left side. She was loaded into an AmCare Ambulance and taken to Rome Health for non-life threatening injuries.

Police cited Aikens for failure to yield right-of-way.

Members from the New York State Police and Lee Center Fire Department all provided assistance on scene.
