Social Media and village residents played key role in catching graffiti culprits in Lowville, police say

LOWVILLE- Police have provided a few more details regarding the recent graffiti bust in Lowville, NY.

Earlier this week, authorities busted three suspects, ages 15, 16 and 18 for making graffiti throughout the village. According to the village police department, no names were released.

All three suspects have been officially charged with misdemeanor counts of graffiti making.

The incident happened during the early morning hours Tuesday. Numerous complaints of graffiti on streets, sidewalks and even buildings were filed with the police.

Village officials said social media played a key role with identifying the suspects and police would like to thank community members, who contributed in the effort.

In terms of court proceedings, the 18-year-old suspect was issued with an appearance ticket and is due to answer the accusation in Lowville Town Court at a later date.

Meanwhile, appearance tickets issued for the 15 and 16-year-old suspects are returnable to Lewis County Probation.
