Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce reaching out to members in good standing to form an auditing committee
BOONVILLE- The Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking members, in good standing, to form an auditing committee.
This announcement appears in this week’s Boonville Herald and states that the new committee would ultimately examine past financial records to find answers over the chamber says is overspending of budgetary funds.
Chamber members, who are in good standing and have an interest in serving the committee, are asked to reach out to the main office (46 Schuyler Street) at 315-942-5112.

In March, the chamber released a letter to its members and iterated the still unexplained financial loss from the $60,000 sale of land to the Woodsmen's Field Days in 2012.
The letter also exposed an "unusually high cost" of a paid secretary, which "perhaps attributed to a shrinking bank account," the chamber said. Clarifying further, the chamber wrote to its members that there has been no financial loss since 2019.
The letter focused around moving the chamber forward, which has been met with controversy over some frustrated members, including a growing number who have rescinded their memberships this winter and so far this spring.
The letter was discussed at-length during a gathering on March 16 among the membership. This was supposed to be the annual chamber meeting, but was postponed to a date yet to be revealed.
Still, a group of members, headed by Chris Flack, formed a gathering with intents of having a quorum.
Out of two board members who attended, we asked one to comment, on record, about the exchange and this board member said they needed board approval to do so. We have not heard back since.
We also sent a comment request to the chamber regarding their claims of computer hacking, which were deemed not to be the case by a local tech and computer repair business. Again, we did not receive a response in return.
