BOONVILLE- A fire in the newly re-opened kitchen at the Pub Saturday night could have been much worse, according to the Fire Chief.

It was during the evening hours when Boonville Fire Department received reports from dispatch suggesting that there was a kitchen fire at the Pub.

Responding firefighters confirmed and managed to contain the flames to one area. Officials said the establishment briefly shut-down before opening back up a little while following the incident.

Chief Dave Pritchard Jr. told us the fire was in the wall and likely sparked from heat being conducted from one of the nearby cooking stoves.

Because this fire was caught right away as it was happening, firefighters managed to prevent what the Chief called a “very likely” far worse outcome had the establishment been closed down for the night and no one there to notice it right away.

Crews returned to service once things were checked out and inspected.
