North Country resident accused of criminal contempt in Jefferson County: TROOPERS

EVANS MILLS- A reported domestic incident in Jefferson County over the weekend has resulted in the arrest of a North Country area resident.

On Saturday afternoon, the New York State Police (Watertown) formally charged Matthew J. Merritt, 39, of Carthage, NY for one misdemeanor count of criminal contempt in the second-degree (disobey court order).

According to Troopers, this arrest was made in the village of Evans Mills.

At press time, police said that Merritt was released and there were no further details provided.
