BOONVILLE- A pair of area juveniles are faced with felony charges for allegedly defacing a section of sidewalk that was under construction in the village.

It was back on September 24 when the Boonville Police Department received a complaint over a stretch of sidewalk that had been vandalized on Schuyler Street.

Police learned that village employees from the streets department had just poured a section of the sidewalk during the morning hours and had left during the afternoon to retrieve some additional equipment.

However, upon return, village employees told police that there were footprints and writing engraved into the sidewalk, which was in the process of drying and had been blocked off.

However, by the time village crews returned to the job site, the sidewalk had hardened and was deemed irreparable.

As a result of the investigation, Boonville Police announced on Monday the arrests of two juveniles (no ages or genders listed) for one felony count each of criminal mischief in the third-degree.

No names were available for either suspect, due to their age (youthful offender status).

At press time, police said the youth offenders were referred to Oneida County Probation.
