BOONVILLE- Local authorities are investigating an aggravated harassment complaint, where a "provocative" comment was made towards the Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce.

According to Boonville Village Police Officer in Charge Fred Robenski, there was a “questionable” comment made on social media this week that prompted a response from the chamber organization.

Specifically, the complaint was made Thursday afternoon.

Oneida County 9-1-1 report.

Although Officer Robenski would not specify the exact nature or wording of the comment, he did clarify that it was “provocative.”

No charges or arrests have been made as of this report.

Over the last few days, the village has been spotlighted amidst a social media fracas between community members and certain organizations and/or groups.

Robenski clarified the investigation stems from this continuing firestorm of comments being fired back and forth over social media.

On Wednesday afternoon, the chamber "delayed" the public session of their regular meeting, due to what they referred to as an "aggressive" nature of certain comments and posts circulating on social media.
