MARTINSBURG- Authorities say one person was killed after wrecking their snowmobile into a tree on Tug Hill late Wednesday night. It happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. on the Rector Road in the Town of Martinsburg, according to Lewis County Sheriff's Office. Investigation suggests that Michael S. Spooner, 54, of Clifton Springs, NY was heading west on his 2001 Polaris snowmobile. Police said Spooner failed to negotiate a turn curve in the trail and struck a tree. Several nearby bystanders attempted CPR until emergency responders arrived. Unfortunately, Spooner was pronounced deceased on scene.
