Brown’s Plumbing and Heating of Lowville transitions to Howland Pump and Supply & Lowville Appliance and Air Conditioning
LOWVILLE- Brown’s Heating and Plumbing of Lowville has transitioned into a pair of new, local establishments.
The family business, founded in 1915, thanks to William C. Brown, ran for an incredible 110-year legacy – closing its doors on December 31, 2024.
But according to an announcement from Naturally Lewis, the Brown’s store, located on Forest Avenue, has been purchased by Howland Pump and Supply and will serve as their newest branch.
Meanwhile, the appliance division of Brown’s located on Shady Avenue, will re-brand under Lowville Appliance and Air Conditioning under the ownership of Brad and Megan Moser, who have been long-time employees of the locally renowned family business.
"We are excited to continue with the family-run business model upon which Brown's was built," said Brad Moser.
"Arel took a chance on me fresh out of technical school, and we wouldn't be where we are today without their guidance and support."
"It is our hope that you will find in our successors the same qualities and traits that Led to this company's Longevity and reputation," said Arel and Barbara Brown, owners of Brown's Plumbing and Heating.
Naturally Lewis, Inc. assisted in facilitating the ownership transition of Brown's Plumbing and Heating through their Center for Businesses in Transition (CBIT) Program. The CBIT Program connects retiring business owners with aspiring entrepreneurs to preserve and grow local businesses.
"The average business ownership transition takes five years. Naturally Lewis began working with Arel and Barbara Brown in 2019, showing their dedication to their business and community" says Jenna Lauraine, Programs and Partnerships Director at Naturally Lewis, Inc.
"CBIT is an important facet of our work because it retains businesses, services, and jobs in our community. Supporting transitioning businesses like this ensures our local economy remains vibrant and our communities continue to thrive."
