Moose Snowmobile Trail Reports for Wednesday, January 22, 2025
Snowmobiling 2025 marches on across upstate New York and the North Country.
For those who grew up through winters of the past, the one we are currently enduring across Central and Northern New York may likely be a reminder of how things used to be – cold and snowy!
Another monstrous lake effect snow blitz dumped upwards of four-feet of accumulation across parts of the Northern Tug Hill Plateau Monday night and most of Tuesday (think Barnes Corners area and nearby areas).
Grooming fleets up that way have been busy digging out and clearing the trails.
Temperatures have remained well below freezing for the most part over the last several days and grooming fleets have been out all across the local region.
Some trail systems have had some thin spots, but the conditions overall remain consistently good. One club has even gone as far to say that "We haven't seen it this good in years!"
Here are some of the latest reports we’ve gathered from around the local area:

Barnes Corners Sno-Pals: Good coverage reported following Tuesday’s monster snow blitz.
Brantingham Snowmobile Club: Conditions have varied and some thins spots are reported.
Long Pond Sno Sled Club: Grooming fleets have been active and conditions have improved.
Lost Trail Snowmobile Club: Conditions have remained steady; some thin reports near White Lake and Boonville.
Missing Link Snowmobile Club: Groomers continue working the trails after this week’s snowstorm; Copenhagen – Maples Run is expected to be groomed Wednesday.
Osceola Snowmobile Association: Grooming fleets have been out and conditions have been consistently good.
Ohio Ridge Riders: Grooming fleets were out last weekend and lots of sled traffic reported.
Old Forge/Town of Webb: Trails remain in good shape, but some thin spots have been reported.
Penn Mountain Snow Riders: No updates since January 17.
Southern Tug Hill Sno-Riders: “We haven’t seen it this good in years!” Trails are open and remain in great shape.
Trackside Blazers: Groomers have been out and conditions have varied (RR tracks were groomed as of Monday - S73 from Horton Road to Trestle Road).
Turin Ridge Riders: Tug Hill Trails are open; lower trails are open, but have thinned.
Valley Snow Travelers: Groomers were out earlier this week on the Tug Hill Trails.
NOTICE: Local law enforcement and snowmobile club officials are warning all riders to obey any and all rules and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to: respecting closed trails and staying off from private property. Police warn to never snowmobile while intoxicated or under the influence of any substance. Watch your speeds and remember to look out for and give right-of-way to groomers on the trails.
