Carthage man charged with DWI in Jefferson County, police say

CHAMPION- A North Country man is accused of intoxicated driving in Jefferson County, authorities say.

William S. Elliott, 56, of Carthage, NY was arrested late Thursday by the New York State Police (Carthage). He is officially charged with one count each of DWI (first offense) and operating a motor vehicle (w/a .08 of 1% BAC).

Troopers say the charges were filed that night shortly after 9:30 p.m. in the town of Champion. At press time, police said Elliott was released to a third-party.
