
WEBB- Nearly 17-thousand-pounds of bridge materials were successfully hauled into the Ha-De-Ron-Dah Wilderness area thanks to a sling load operation, according to the New York State DEC.
The operation, which utilized the use of helicopters, was executed on Tuesday, March 21. The materials were flown in from Old Forge Airport to the vicinity of the East Pond-Lost Creek trail by NYSP Aviation.
Rangers assisted with rigging the bundles of materials, communications support, and facilitating ground operations at the drop zone.
According to the DEC’s weekly Forest Ranger Highlights, Forest Rangers assisted DEC staff from the Divisions of Lands and Forests, Operations, and the Bureau of Fisheries in this operation.
