Deputies: Driver charged with DWI, traffic infractions after going off roadway and into a snowbank

CROGHAN- A North Country man is accused of intoxicated driving and other infractions after going off the road and into a snowbank, authorities say.

It was shortly after 3:30 a.m. Sunday when emergency responders were called out to the Zecher Road, town of Croghan.

9-1-1 dispatchers reported a 2018 Hyundai Suburban that went off the road and into a snowbank.

According to police investigation, the reported driver, Samuel M. Dufrene, 23, of Carthage, NY appeared intoxicated. He subsequently failed field sobriety tests on scene.

Dufrene was taken in to the Public Safety Building, where police said he registered a .14% BAC.

Dufrene was charged with DWI and other numerous traffic infractions.

Following processing, Dufrene was released with appearance tickets, which are all returnable to Croghan Town Court.
