LOWVILLE- A local resident is accused of intoxicated driving following reports of a motor vehicle accident over the weekend in Lewis County, authorities say.

Kyle R. Williams, 34, of Boonville, NY was arrested Saturday night by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Williams is formally charged with DWI, DWI (w/a .08 of 1% or greater BAC) and other unspecified traffic violations.

It was shortly after 10:00 p.m. when emergency authorities were called out to State Route 12 in the town of Lowville for a 2014 Chevy Silverado that had gone off the roadway and struck a guard rail.

Williams, the alleged driver, appeared intoxicated on-scene, police said. Williams subsequently failed field sobriety tests.

During processing at the Public Safety Building, deputies said Williams registered a .14% BAC.

Williams was released with appearance tickets, which are all returnable to Lowville Town Court at a later date.
