Hochul Cellphone Policy Ban 2025

ALBANY, NY- With a new academic year underway, schools in New York are cracking down on the use of smartphones in the classroom.

As announced this spring and hinted during the legislative session, New York has enacted a new policy to ban the use of smartphones in schools statewide.

However, each district has had its own opportunity to create a policy unique to their students, staff members and parents.

Governor Hochul has been a pioneer for developing and enacting this initiative, based on feedback from teachers, parents and students.

The state has created a website, where parents, teachers, students and taxpayers can review their specific school smartphone policy.

If parents have any questions or concerns, they are encouraged to reach out to their school district officials and administrators.
