Florida Man killed in a Town of Diana ATV Accident

DIANA- A man from out of state suffered fatal injuries in a Lewis County ATV accident on Monday, authorities say. It happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. on North Shore Road, near lake Bonaparte in the town of Diana. Lewis County Sheriff's Investigators have determined Patrick Byrne, 60, of Melbourne, FL was operating an ATV and went off the road. He struck an embankment and was ejected from the machine. Police say unsafe speeds and slippery conditions were contributing factors. Byrne was wearing a helmet when the wreck occurred. Despite being rushed to Carthage area Hospital, Byrne passed away shortly after arriving. Members of the New York State Police, Carthage and Natural Bridge Ambulance all assisted on scene. The investigation is ongoing.
