LOWVILLE- On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Lewis County Public Health Supervising Public Health Nurse, Marcia Ashline, joined North Country News and discussed rabies vaccine bait drops, which are conducted annually across several county townships.
The drops were scheduled to take place this year, weather pending, between August 1 and August 4.
With the baits widely distributed, they are designed to vaccinate wild critters from getting rabies, with an ultimate goal of blunting the spread of the deadly disease.
For our latest on-air segment, Marcia Ashline goes over a few key reminders for folks who may encounter one of these baits, including what to do if your pet finds them.
