INLET- A person has passed away after collapsing on a mountain in the Western Adirondacks last weekend.

New York State Forest Rangers were dispatched to the summit of Rocky Mountain shortly before 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Dispatchers had received a report of a collapsed individual.

Forest Rangers McCartney, Miller and Nahor all responded to assist.

By the time they all arrived about an hour later, local EMS was performing CPR, however; their efforts were tragically unsuccessful.

Forest Rangers then assisted with the carryout of the deceased person, who was 51-years-old and was from Lowville, NY.

New York State DEC offers its condolences to the family. A cause of death remains under investigation, the DEC said at press time.
