
WEBB- Forest Rangers assisted with rescuing an injured hiker last Friday in the Western Adirondacks.
It was shortly after noontime when emergency responders received reports from dispatch regarding an injured hiker in the town of Webb, Herkimer County.
Although an exact trail system or area was not mentioned by the DEC, the 50-year-old hiker from Massachusetts had injured her ankle.
A total of five Forest Rangers assisted members with the Old Forge Fire Department and Town of Webb Police during the rescue.
The victim’s ankle was splinted before responders utilized a rope system to lower her approximately a mile and a half down the trail.
As the time approached 3:00 p.m. that afternoon, emergency responders managed to get the injured hiker to an ambulance. She was taken to an area hospital.
Further injuries were not described and no additional details were released via the DEC.
