BOONVILLE- A few additional details have come to light regarding the fisherman, who was tragically found deceased after venturing out last-week along the Black River, near Boonville, NY.

As previously reported by the New York State Police, family members of Thomas D. Sobik, 82, of Clinton, NY reported him missing when he was long overdue from a fishing excursion.

Authorities found his vehicle in the public access lot along the Walker Road, just outside the village, with no sign of him nearby.

In the latest New York State DEC Forest Ranger highlights, officials have revealed that search teams encountered a witness during their efforts Friday afternoon, who reported seeing Sobik fishing the night before on a nearby tributary to Black River.

This tip ultimately brought search parties to that area, where Mr. Sobik was found deceased along a trail leading back to the road.

As previously clarified, State Police suspect no foul play.
