Herkimer County resident charged for criminal contempt, criminal tampering in Newport: NYSP

NEWPORT- A local resident from Herkimer County is faced with charges that trace back to a reported domestic dispute this week.

On Thursday evening, the New York State Police (Herkimer) arrested and charged Christopher J. Allen, 38, of Newport, NY with one misdemeanor count each of criminal contempt in the second-degree and criminal tampering in the third-degree.

According to Troopers, this arrest stems from a domestic dispute complaint earlier that same afternoon in the town of Newport.

At press time, Allen’s arrest status suggested an appearance for centralized arraignment. In addition, State Police listed a bail of $5,000.

An investigation is still pending as of this report, authorities clarified.
