
The results have been tallied up for this year’s Super Bowl Weekend law enforcement crackdown in New York State.
According to the State Police, 177 drivers were arrested for intoxication. Meanwhile, law enforcement issued 8,263 tickets statewide during the campaign which lasted from February 6 – February 8.
Here in Troop D, police arrested 15 for DWI, while also issuing 226 speeding tickets; 19 distracted driving tickets; 18 child restraint and/or seatbelt violations and 6 move over violations, resulting in 908 tickets in total.
The initiative was funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) and was carried out in coordination with local law enforcement agencies across New York State.
The New York State Police remind motorists that impaired driving is never worth the risk.
Enforcement efforts such as this are conducted to prevent tragedies and to keep New York’s roadways safe, especially during high-traffic holiday and event weekends.
