LOWVILLE- A new surgical pavilion at Lowville Hospital will help modernize and increase operating room (OR) capacity.
That's according to CEO of Lewis County Health System, Gerry Cayer. The new surgical pavilion will include three OR's and one procedure room. "Which is an adequate number of rooms to support a population density that we serve," Mr. Cayer told us.
The current OR's will be revitalized and transformed into the new critical care unit (AKA the ICU), with five private rooms and a nurses station.
All rooms in medical and surgical will become modernized and private, with ability to double capacity in the event of an illness outbreak or some other catastrophic event.
The lower level of the new surgical pavilion will also feature a new morgue, with enough capacity for five deceased instead of two.
The project broke ground one-year-ago this month and since has made tremendous progress.
