LOWVILLE- Lowville is hoping to re-establish a youth softball league.
Right now, officials tell us there are enough players to field one team and they have been given opportunity to compete this spring in the Boonville League.
But there seems to be a hope in reviving and anchoring a league based out of Lowville, so that way players and families wont have to travel as far and will have opportunity to compete with other teams locally.
"It's been many years since there was an option in our community for younger girls to play softball and we are excited at the possibility of bringing this program back and the positive impact it will have on our school softball programs," spokesperson Megan Marolf told us.
She has helped construct and put out a survey, which she says is aimed to gauge interest in the community to see if there is further interest to warrant a second or even third team.
"We just want to know how many kids out there would actually want to play, if parents are willing to help out, if there are businesses willing to make a couple of donations to get us up and running especially with equipment costs to offset that initial expense for the players."

Sign-ups are aimed to be held sometime in March.
Games will be played both home and away and with the way things stand as of this report, the furthest travel will be to Boonville or Remsen.
Most games will be during the evenings. Practices typically start after spring break and games begin mid-May and run through the last week of school in June.
