ALBANY, NY- A late firefighter, who was a lifelong native to Boonville, NY, was among several other fallen firefighters recently added to New York’s Fallen Firefighters Memorial Wall.
The 28th such ceremony was observed on Tuesday at the Empire State Convention Center in Albany, NY.
126 fallen firefighters were honored during the ceremony, including Boonville’s own Larry Zeigler. He passed away in September, 2024.

2,818 names are now engraved into the memorial wall, who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The wall is designed to pay tribute to New York’s fallen firefighters, while also honoring the thousands of men and women who continue serving and protecting their communities.
“We gather again, as we do annually, to honor and remember those firefighters from across the State who were lost in the line of duty, and to support and offer our sympathies to the families, friends, and departments of the fallen," said New York State Fire Administrator James Cable.
"Sadly, the number of those lost to illnesses as a result of their participation in the response and recovery efforts after the attacks of September 11, 2001 continues to grow and those members make up the vast majority of those we honor today. While we look forward to a day when we have no new names to add to the Memorial Wall, we must never forget all those who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
A list of current names on the wall can be accessed here.
