GREIG- Local authorities are looking into what caused a garage to go up in flames late Wednesday night in Lewis County.

It happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. at 5204 Greig Road. 3-G Fire Department was the primary responder. By the time firefighters arrived, the garage was already fully engulfed by flames.

Lowville, Lyons Falls and Turin Fire Departments all provided mutual aid.

With the threat of flames spreading to a nearby home, emergency responders managed to endure dramatic winds and snow to ultimately contain the blaze.

The garage, which is reportedly owned by James Sees, was destroyed, as were the contents within, according to Lewis County Emergency Management.

A cause is under investigation. No injuries were reported.

Members from the Sheriff’s Office, Search & Rescue, New York State Police, Lewis County Fire Cause & Origin Team, Town of Greig Highway Department and National Grid all assisted.
