Published on January 17, 2025

Scam Alert

LOWVILLE- Reports have surfaced from around the North Country regarding the National Grid scam.

This update is according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, where officials have been fielding complaints from local residents.

According to Sheriff’s Investigators, scammers have been calling their victims and claiming to be from National Grid, threatening to shut your power off.

Officials say the scammers may even go as far to providing a fake work order number.

The Sheriff’s Office warns: DO NOT give out any personal information or payments over the phone in response to such phone calls.

“This is a scam and not actually National Grid,” the Sheriff’s Office emphasized. “National Grid will not call you in regards to your power being shut off or for a payment.”
