Local resident faced with several charges allegedly tried to grab officer's hand-gun during arrest, police say

LOWVILLE- A local resident is faced with numerous charges after police investigated an order of protection violation.

On Friday, the Lowville Village Police Department arrested Julie Stanton, 22, on charges of attempted robbery in the third-degree; attempted grand larceny in the fourth-degree; attempted criminal possession of a weapon in the second-degree; resisting arrest; obstructing governmental administration in the second-degree and criminal contempt in the second-degree.

It’s reported that police investigated a protection order violation, where Stanton was located at her residence and advised she was under arrest for allegedly communicating with a protected party.

However, as officers approached her, it’s reported that Stanton lunged after them and went for one of the officer’s hand-guns.

Following an arraignment, Stanton was remanded to Lewis County Jail on $7,500 cash bail and $12,500 secured bond.
