Male victim recovered from canal in Floyd in what appears to be a drowning: OCSO

FLOYD- Authorities are investigating what appears to be a drowning in Oneida County.

Members from the Sheriff’s Office were called out on Sunday to the State Route 49 area in the town of Floyd for what appears to have been a drowning in the canal.

Though the details remain limited, dive team members were able to recover the male from the waterway.

At this time, there is no further information, as the investigation is pending an identification of the victim.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by members of the New York State Police, Floyd Fire Department, and the Medical Examiner’s office.
