Man arrested and charged for allegedly having sexual contact with teenage boy

ROME- A Mohawk Valley man is accused of having sexual contact with a teenage boy last fall in Oneida County, authorities are reporting.

Edward Madill, 77, of Rome, NY was arrested by the Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday. He is formally charged with one count each of felony criminal sex act in the third-degree and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

It’s alleged that Madill had sexual contact with a 15-year-old male last November in the city of Rome, investigators say.

He was processed, arraigned and remanded to the county’s correctional facility in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.

Officials clarified that an order of protection has been issued on the victim’s behalf and counseling services have been offered via the Child Advocacy Center.
