TURIN- Authorities say a UTV traffic stop Saturday evening in Lewis County resulted in a DWI arrest.

Charles E. Dorgan, 53, of Canastota, NY is formally charged via the Sheriff’s Office for aggravated DWI and other unspecified violations regarding traffic law.

According to officials, it was shortly after 7:30 p.m. that evening when patrols witnessed a 2020 Polaris Ranger UTV heading south on State Route 26 in the village of Turin, NY.

A traffic stop was initiated because the road was closed to UTV traffic, police said.

While interviewing Dorgan, the alleged operator, police said he appeared to be intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests on scene.

Dorgan was subsequently taken in to the Public Safety Building for processing, where he reportedly registered a .18% BAC.

Dorgan was released on appearance tickets, which are returnable to Turin Town Court at a later date.
