Man who suffered medical emergency while water-skiing on Lake Delta pronounced deceased after being rushed to Rome Hospital

ONEIDA COUNTY- Authorities say a man who was water-skiing this week on Lake Delta has died after suffering from a medical emergency.

It happened shortly before 2:00 p.m. Tuesday when emergency responders were dispatched to a report of someone suffering from cardiac arrest on Golf Course Road in Rome, NY.

According to State Police Investigators, Fred Martin, 71, of Rome, NY was water-skiing on Lake Delta and suffered from a medical emergency.

Troopers located Martin in an unresponsive state in a boat at the end of a dock.

It is reported that bystanders performed lifesaving efforts before responding EMS took over.

Martin was rushed to Rome Memorial Hospital and later pronounced deceased.

State Police said members from Rome City Fire Department and AmCare Ambulance all assisted.
