Medical helicopter called in wake of Lewis County UTV accident: LCSO

PINCKNEY- Two people were taken to area hospitals following reports of a North Country UTV crash, authorities say.

It happened Saturday on Cronk Road, town of Pinckney, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. 

Deputies say a 2020 Can-Am Maverick was heading north and struck a tree after failing to negotiate a curve. 

Police say the machine rolled several times. 

Two occupants were involved, including Angelo Curto, 46, of New Jersey and Pawel Lekacz, 34, of Queens, NY. 

Police say Curto was flown to SUNY Upstate Medical Center for injuries, which were not specified. Meanwhile, Lekacz was taken to Lowville Hospital and was later released. 

The investigation remains ongoing. 

Members from Mercy Flight, Lewis County Search & Rescue, Rodman Fire Department and Groff’s Towing all assisted.
