TURIN- A pair from the Mohawk Valley suffered injuries from an ATV accident over the weekend in Lewis County, the Sheriff’s Office says.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. Saturday on Gomer Hill Road, town of Turin.

According to investigators, Destiny D. LeRoy, 26, of Mohawk, NY was operating a 2022 Polaris, with a passenger, identified as Kristara M. Bly, 31, of Herkimer.

LeRoy was heading southwest and collided with a tree after going off the trail, police said. The impact ejected both from the machine.

Unsafe speeds were a factor, deputies said.

Members from Turin Ambulance treated both on scene. They were eventually taken to area hospitals. Bly described chest and back pain, while LeRoy complained of right arm and shoulder pain.

LeRoy was ticketed for unsafe speeds (due to trail conditions).

Members from Turin Fire Department, Constableville Ambulance and Sullivan’s Towing all assisted.
