TURIN- It seems like most everyone already knew what Monday night's storm was, but the team of National Weather Service Storm Investigators confirmed later Tuesday it was an EF3 tornado that ripped a path of destruction in Southern Lewis County.

Investigators say the storm touched down sometime shortly before 7:45 p.m. in the town of Lewis, specifically near the Mud Lake Road area.

The twister managed to uproot all sorts of trees and effortlessly toss various debris in its way. While working towards the Fish Creek Road, the tornado also completely destroyed a barn and caused significant damage to a pair of homes, forecasters said.

Over in the Fish Creek Road area, officials said the twister caused more damage to another barn and ripped the roof off from a home.

The tornado continued marching through a swamp and across parts of southern Tug Hill, until reaching Turin, NY. While there, the tornado hit the town water tower and continued north, paralleling the West Road.

It caused significant damage to Snow Ridge Ski Resort, Steak 'N Brew Restaurant and the West Wind Motel.

Once clearing Turin, the twister fizzled out.

Based on their investigation, National Weather Service officials determined the tornado left behind a destruction path 16-miles long, with a maximum path width of 700-yards and maximum wind speeds of 140-mph.

Although we have no word if there are any human injuries and/or deaths associated with this storm, we do have word that a horse was found dead, near West Wind Motel.
