Published on January 10, 2025

Penn Mountain Trails January 2025

Snowmobiling 2025 is underway across upstate New York and the North Country.

Not much has changed from previous reports this week – the weather remains cold and it looks like a fantastic weekend for snowmobiling.

Reports have been pouring in from around the North Country and everyone seems to say how good the riding has been.

Keep in mind, the bulk of the snowfall remains west and south of Boonville, NY. There is still snow if you go north of Boonville, but the coverage thins out.

In addition, conditions to the east (Old Forge and Adirondacks) have been good and steady this week.

Here are some of the latest conditions we’ve gathered:

NOTE: Conditions are likely and do tend to change on a moment’s notice. Be sure to keep checking our website for any updates (you can also check in with your favorite snowmobile clubs for more in-depth details).

Barnes Corners Sno-Pals: Grooming fleets remain active and most trails remain in good shape.

Brantingham Snowmobile Club: Some of the trail system has finally opened. Conditions vary.

Long Pond Sno Sled Club: Most trails have reopened, but conditions vary greatly.

Trackside Blazers: No grooming Thursday, but grooming fleets are expected to be out for the weekend. Coverage is thin north of Woodgate.

Turin Ridge Riders: Good conditions reported on the seasonal roads; lower trails have thinner coverage. (NO CONNECTION TO TRAILS EAST TOWARDS BRANTINGHAM/OLD FORGE).

Valley Snow Travelers: Several trails have been groomed and conditions range from passable to excellent.

NOTICE: Local law enforcement and snowmobile club officials are warning all riders to obey any and all rules and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to: respecting closed trails and staying off from private property. Police warn to never snowmobile while intoxicated or under the influence of any substance. Watch your speeds and remember to look out for and give right-of-way to groomers on the trails.
