New York State DEC announces temporary closure of various state forest access roads, trails as a result from recent storm damage

LEWIS & ONEIDA COUNTIES- The New York State DEC has announced various, temporary closures for state forest access roads and trails in the wake of recent, widespread storm damage.

In Lewis County, the access road for Swancott Mill State Forest is closed.

In Oneida County, the access roads for Buck Hill State Forest, Clark Hill State Forest, South Hill State Forest and Webster Hill State Forest are all closed (including the North Country National Scenic Trail for Clark Hill).

DEC continues to evaluate storm impacts that could affect public safety.

DEC is assessing roads and State facilities in the region damaged by storm impacts and working to clear roads and trails, to allow for reopening.
