WATERTOWN- The man faced with numerous charges from a drunken crash last spring in the North Country that killed a passenger appeared in court this week.
Peter Schroy, 55, of Carthage, NY was in Jefferson County Court on Tuesday, where he pleaded guilty to manslaughter, according to the latest from WWNY-TV.
The wreck in question occurred on the night of May 4, 2023, where Schroy was driving a pick-up truck on State Route 26 in the town of Champion.
He ended up crashing into several trees. His passenger, Donald Gerber, 56, was thrown from the vehicle and found deceased on-scene.
In an indictment against Schroy, authorities stated that he was going over 120-mph when the crash occurred. His BAC was also .18%, which is over twice the legal limit in New York State.
While in court this week, Schroy also pleaded guilty to aggravated DWI, reckless driving and speeding.
Sentencing has been scheduled for later on in June, where reports suggest Schroy could face up to 9-years behind bars.
