North Country resident accused of assault in West Carthage, Troopers say

WEST CARTHAGE- A North Country resident is faced with an assault accusation following complaints of an incident last Sunday in Jefferson County, authorities say.

Nelson L. Lopez, 28, of Carthage, NY was arrested Tuesday morning by the New York State Police (Carthage). Lopez is officially charged with one misdemeanor count of assault in the third-degree (w/intent to cause physical injury).

Troopers say the arrest stems from an assault investigation in West Carthage, which was reported July 9.

At press time, police said Lopez was issued with an appearance ticket.

There were no further details available to report.
