North Country woman flown to Syracuse area hospital in wake of dog attack in Carthage

CARTHAGE- Authorities say a local woman had to be flown to a Syracuse, NY region hospital following a dog attack in Jefferson County.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office were called to Carthage Area Hospital for reports of a woman Tuesday night who had been attacked by a dog.

Police told reporters from WWNY-TV that Amelia McCreery, 27, of Carthage, NY had to be airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical Center.

The nature of her injuries were not reported as of press time, however; officials said that McCreery had been brought in to the hospital with wounds from a serious dog bite.

According to police investigation thus far, McCreery was attacked by a dog that was being walked.

Details on the case still remain limited. Officials say the Wilna Dog Warden is involved.

The Sheriff’s Office did say that the dog responsible in this attack is owned by Jessica Fuller, 41, of Carthage, NY.
